One of the ways my community has been able to begin reaching out to a broader group of people is though our Peace Village. This is a summer day camp for kids k-8th grade, that focuses on helping build a strong sense of self and learn leadership skills like non-violent conflict resolution, mediation as we help kids find their “voice” or method to get their message heard in their community. Their last day in the village is spend with “elders” who share their stories of peace and social justice work.
We would love to train youth and other communities to run their own Peace VIllages. There are now 11 across the continent!

Living in such a competitive society makes it difficult to become compassionate. How can someone be compassionate and do the best for themselves at the same time?
